2021 Cabernet Sauvignon, Clone 6 - new release
Sourced exclusively from a three-acre block of our Valley View Vineyard in Solvang, Clone 6 Cabernet Sauvignon is distinguished by naturally small, loose clusters and intensely flavored berries. The long, moderate 2021 growing season was particularly favorable for Cabernet, allowing the fruit to develop slowly while retaining freshness, structure, and remarkable concentration.
The wine opens with cassis, black cherry, and blackberry, layered with violet, graphite, cedar, and finely integrated French oak. The palate is deep and composed, with dark fruit giving way to cocoa, tobacco, and subtle savory spice. Fine-grained tannins provide considerable structure without overwhelming the fruit, carrying the wine through a long, persistent finish.
Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon Clone 6 and aged for 21 months in French oak, 45% new, this is a Cabernet built with the structure to evolve. It is compelling now with decanting, but its balance, acidity, and tannin suggest its more interesting years are still ahead. Cellar confidently through 2035 and potentially beyond.
